CM Mamata: “Since independence, Hindus and Muslims have lived together peacefully in Bengal” | Watch

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday inaugurated the newly constructed Siriti crematorium and laid the foundation for a new crematorium at Doi Ghat during a virtual ceremony from Nabanna. Addressing the event, she emphasized that since India’s independence, Hindus and Muslims have coexisted peacefully and that her administration gives equal preference to all religions in Bengal.

During her speech, Banerjee also responded to critics who claim industries are leaving the state. She questioned such assertions, stating that a visit from Howrah to Durgapur would show that industries in Bengal are still operational. She clarified that while some sales companies have shut down, this does not indicate an industrial decline.

The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of communal harmony and the continued development of infrastructure in Bengal. By inaugurating and laying the foundation for these crematoriums, she reinforced her government’s commitment to providing public facilities while promoting religious equality across the state.
